Hello old friends
I have been silent – unusual I know.
This year, I took the decision to cease teaching. I had intended to carry on teaching for a few places, especially the lovely Knitting Hotel. And I did teach several workshops last year and this, and held 2 residential events at Hurds Hill a few months ago.
But everything moves on, and as averse to change as I am in some ways, I have never been afraid of changing lanes. I have been a student, a sausage-maker (yes, it’s true), a Fire Service operative, a trainer, a teacher, a designer and an author. Now I am a corporate governance assessor and I am also a support worker. These latter 2 activities continue, having been part of my life for 12, and 2 years, respectively. I became a support worker in the first lock-down and honestly never expected to be any good, or enjoy it – but I love it.
When I taught my knitting and design events, which I did for over 20 years, I loved that too. In fact, I was passionate about it. This year, when I taught, I still loved it but I gradually fell out of love with the behind-the-scenes parts, which consume 80% of the time – the actual teaching is the top 20%. And so, I stopped. Life also brings other twists and turns, by their nature often unexpected, sometimes hurtful and difficult, often wonderful. That has happened too – in both categories.
I am about to begin designing again though as the urge to design has returned, branching out into new areas (a bit, let’s not go mad). And I will resume a bit of blogging. May as well, if I have a bit more time now!

One thing I am also happy to do in future, as I have sometimes in the past, is to host a private workshop or knitting party here, at Court Cottage. More on this soon.
