Zig-Zag Hat

This is an easy and fast gift-knit.  You can knit this hat on DPNs, by Magic Loop or on 2 short circular needles that are 40 – 60 cm long.  It is knitted in the round. The pattern gives adult male and female sizes. The female hat is beaded (optional). This hat has companions – the Zig-Zag Scarf and the Zig-Zag Mitts. 

I rate this as easy.

Yarn, needles, etc

Yarns
For both hats, I used 2 x 50g balls of Mondial Bio Lana Aran (or c200m of another Aran yarn). For the female hat I used 1 strand of Aran (2 balls in all) – held together with 1 strand of Kidsilk Haze (1 ball), which would be Yarn B, but this is optional. For the male hats, I used two shades and worked stripes as I felt inclined.
Needles
5mm needles to knit in the round. I used a 40cm long (tip-to-tip) circular needle then DPNs as the number of stitches in the crown reduced but you can knit them on DPNs or Magic Loop throughout.
Note: if you have tight tension and want to knit the womanly hat with Kidsilk Haze plus the aran, consider using a 5.5mm needle.
