Maybe, Baby Capelet & Mitts

 

A top-down garment.  This has a sweater top, and then transforms into a capelet, with a short side vent.

The top is Fairisle, with an easy chart, a folded Fairisle-lined collar and a ribbed neck.  The hem-line is flared with beaded godets.

This garment is knitted both in the round and flat.  There are 2 sizes.

The fit is relaxed.

I rate this as easy – moderate.

Yarns, needles, etc

Yarns

Yarn A – 8 (10) x 50g balls of Mondial Merino Sport DK – the background colour

Yarn B – 3 (3) 50g balls of Mondial Merino Sport DK – the colour of the Fairisle

 Needles

1 x 4mm circular needle that is 40cm long

1 x 4mm circular needle that is 60cm long

1 x 4mm circular needle that is 80cm long

1 x 4mm circular needle that is 150cm long.  This is used when working the final section with the godet inserts, and these are all knitted flat

1 x 4.5mm circular needle that is 60cm long

1 x 4.5mm circular needle that is 80cm long

Note:  the 40 – 80cm long needles are chiefly used when working in the round; you may wish to transfer to longer needles if this is more comfortable for you as the stitch numbers increase.  You may therefore wish to move to a 100cm needle for example. Pattern gives guidance, use needle length that feels best to you.
